Physician’s medicine cases. (circa 1880’s)  Leather cases holding the doctor’s basic medicines, taken on house calls to treat the patient.

Poison Bottles: often brightly colored and with ribbing, these were intended to warn about deadly contents. Unfortunately, these very qualities made them attractive to children.

Pharmacy bottles, used to store the ingredients needed to fill prescriptions. Note the various styles, including hand-painted and glass labels.

Mortars and pestles ground ingredients into a fine powder. Show globes were placed prominently in pharmacies to attract customers and to impress them with their bright colors.
